Use Collections in Galley to model buffet bars.
Galley's Collection feature allows you to plan for a certain group of items to be served together while maintaining the flexibility to select the exact items at a later date, when finalizing a menu plan.
Collections are best used for any buffet bars, such as a salad bar, for which the bar is going to be served so must be planned for but the actual items that are going to be served as a part of the bar are still not certain.
Recipes and Ingredients that are are certain to be served as a part of the collection can be added directly to it.
When unsure about the exact items that will be served, an option list can be created. For example, you may know that you want to serve leafy greens on the salad bar, but do not yet know if it will be Romaine, Iceberg, or Arugula. An option list can be created containing all the options.
In the screenshot below, the option list is called "Leafy Greens" and the items from which a selection will be made (lettuce, iceberg; baby spinach; lettuce romaine; arugula; kale) are displayed.
- The option list can consist of both Recipes and Ingredients.
- All possible options that may be selected as part of the grouping should be added to the list.
- The number of options that should be selected from the list must be defined.
- The default option on the list will be used for cost and dietary flag calculations until the collection is finalized as part of a menu plan.
- The list order can be reordered by drag-and-drop to specify a different default option.
