This article will show you how to use the Highlight functionality in the Menu Plan to find what you need
🔍 Highlight ingredients added as Event Items
Need to find specific ingredients in your events?
Just:
1. Click "Search Event Items"
2. Open the settings/configuration panel
3. Under Search by, select "Name"
4. Under Search depth, choose "Event item"
5. Type the ingredient name, select it from the list, and voilà — every matching item will be highlighted!
🧩 Highlight ingredients used in recipe components of Recipe Event Items
Wondering if an ingredient is used inside a recipe?
Do the same as above, but in Search depth, choose "Event item and its recipe components".
Now you’ll see every Recipe Event Item that includes that ingredient — whether it’s a standalone or mixed in.
🏷️ Highlight by tags — at the item level
Want to highlight recipes or ingredients with a specific tag?
1. Click "Search Event Items"
2. In Search by, choose "Category and Value"
3. In Search depth, pick "Event item"
4. Select the tag category and value — and boom! You’ll see them light up.
🍲 Highlight by tags — including recipe component-level tags
Need a deeper flavor scan? This one shows tags inside recipe components too:

Same as above, but set Search depth to "Event item and its recipe components"
You’ll now see event items that have the tag either directly or in their recipe components.
🗓️ Navigating your highlights just got easier
Once items are highlighted, they’ll appear in the day columns of the planner.
You can:
1. Focus on a specific result by day
2. Use arrow keys to navigate
No need to expand each event — we’ll do the legwork for you!
🔢 Highlight up to 5 items or tags
Feeling extra curious? You can highlight up to five different things at the same time — mix and match between items and tags to get exactly what you’re looking for. Perfect for spotting trends or checking compliance in a flash.
