What are Recipe Yield Conversions?
Recipe yields are very important in Galley. Learn how to utilize and convert Recipe Yields in Galley.
A recipe's units are centered around one measurement... The Recipe's Yield (highlighted in the image below).
Recipe yields can be defined however we want, whether it is a standard or custom unit. In the example above, this recipe's yield is currently defined using a custom unit -- a serving.
A recipe's yield becomes even more powerful when we add Conversions to other types of units. These conversions allow us to call on the recipe through associated unit types, and these units enable Galley to scale the recipe to the given quantity and unit.
In the image above, we can see that we have our yield unit, servings, on the left. Since servings is a custom unit, it is colored in light green. On the right side of the image above, we have a conversion from the custom unit (servings) to a standard unit of weight -- ounces (though it could be grams, or whatever you prefer).
Below that, we have a density conversion from ounces to a unit of volume, cups.
Based on these conversions, we can call on this recipe by any unit of weight, by any unit of volume, and by our custom unit, servings, and Galley will know exactly how much of this recipe we need.
- Custom Units are light green.
- Units of Weight are dark green.
- Units of Volume are gold.
