Product Release Note - Manually Set Dietary Flags on Recipes

Not every allergen comes from an ingredient. Cross-contact during production, shared equipment, or facility-level exposure can introduce dietary flags that your ingredient list won't capture. Now you can set those flags directly on the recipe itself.

Add dietary flags directly on recipes

Users with the new Edit Recipe Dietary Flags permission will see a + button next to the allergens list on the recipe page. Click it to add any dietary flag, no ingredient required.

Scope to a single location or all locations

When adding a flag, choose whether it applies globally across all locations or only to your currently scoped location. Useful when cross-contact risk varies by facility.

Flags flow up to parent recipes

Once a dietary flag is set on a recipe, it automatically flows through to any parent recipes that use it as a sub-recipe, keeping your allergen data consistent across the board.

Permission already backfilled

The new Edit Recipe Dietary Flags permission has been automatically granted to all users who already had the Edit Ingredient Dietary Flag Associations permission. No admin action needed.

When to use this: Set recipe-level dietary flags when cross-contact or facility-level exposure introduces an allergen that isn't captured by any ingredient in the recipe.
