Product Release Note - Constraint-Filtered Search

The “Add Product” search in the Menu Planner now respects your item group constraints automatically. Products that don’t meet your dietary-flag or category rules are filtered out before results load—so every option you see is one you can actually use.

Menu Planner Add Product search showing constraint hint text: Items that violate constraints are hidden from results

Constraint-violating products hidden

Products that break your item group’s dietary-flag or category constraints no longer appear in search results. Previously they showed up as disabled rows—now they’re gone entirely, giving you a cleaner list.

Server-side category filtering

Category include/exclude filters are now evaluated on the server before results are sent to your browser. This means faster searches and more accurate pagination—no more scrolling past items you can’t use.

Works across Menu Plans & Cycles

The filtered search applies everywhere you add products—both in Menu Plans and Menu Cycles. Constraints from the parent plan are inherited automatically, so your guardrails stay consistent.

Quick tip: You’ll see a subtle hint at the bottom of the search results: “Items that violate constraints are hidden from results.” If a product you expect isn’t showing up, check your item group’s constraint settings—it may be filtered out by a dietary flag or category rule.
