Does Galley support calculating calories using 4-4-9?
Calculate recipe calories using 4-4-9 rather than summing the calories of the components
What is the 4-4-9 rule?
The 4-4-9 rule is a method of calculating the number of calories in a dish using the following macronutrients:
- Carbohydrates: 4 calories per gram
- Protein: 4 calories per gram
- Fat: 9 calories per gram
By default, calories of recipes in Galley are calculated by summing the calorie counts of the recipe's components. Calories can instead be calculated using 4-4-9 by adjusting a company setting. When enabled, the calorie count for recipes will be calculated using 4-4-9.
Note: This setting only affects the calorie calculation for recipes. The calorie counts for ingredients and vendor items will continue to come directly from the USDA or your manual input.
How do I calculate recipe calories using 4-4-9?
An account admin can enable 4-4-9 calorie calculations from the Company Settings page. Navigate to the Nutrition section and enable Use 4-4-9 formula for calorie calculations.
Note: It may take a few minutes for the calorie counts of your recipes to be recalculated after this setting is enabled or disabled.
